Destination Design Firm WATG Opens New Singapore Office

Singapore, September 2007

Destination design firm WATG has opened a new Singapore office.

"After discussions internally, with our clients and with our consultants, we felt that we could best serve the needs of the marketplace with an office in Asia," said Dave Moore, vice president, managing director of the office. "One third of WATG's work comes from Asia, and we're currently doing projects there from our offices in Seattle, Irvine, London, Orlando and Honolulu. Being located in the region will make it easier on us and more convenient for our clients." The other consideration for opening the office is the high projected tourism growth in the region, brought upon largely by its booming economy and rich tourism resources.

Along with Moore, the office will be led by Chao "Robert" Zheng, vice president and director of development, Asia Pacific, who is also coordinating business development efforts in the region for all WATG offices.

Some of WATG's "on the boards" projects located in Asia include: Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (to open in 2010); Regent Hotel Bangkok Hotel & Residences, Bangkok, Thailand (to open in 2008); The Ritz-Carlton Guangzhou, Guangzhou, China (to open in 2007); St. Regis Hotel & Residences, Singapore (to open in 2008); and The Ritz-Carlton Beijing (to open in 2007).

WATG is the number one destination design firm in the world, according to surveys by Hotel Design and Hotel & Motel Management magazines. Hospitality Design magazine's recent survey of architecture and interior design firms ranked WATG's corporate culture among the top in the country: best career advancement, best firm philosophy, best client list, best list of projects, and most innovative. Since its founding in 1945, WATG has designed destinations in 157 countries from its offices in Singapore, Seattle, Honolulu, Irvine, Orlando, and London. For more information, visit
