With coastal space at a premium on what is known as China’s Hawaii, it was essential to design in a way to honor the natural setting and beauty of the site. The architecture of Southern China is reflected subtly in the design.
The project’s mass and detail were edited to achieve the goal of accommodating 500 guest rooms. A large inventory that needed to be designed with scale in mind. Set among tropical gardens it would also ultimately accommodate eight outdoor swimming pools.
A contemporary resort design was realized that would not only appeal to the predominantly Chinese national guests, but also the growing international interest in this beach escape destination.
