Fall Interior Design Trends 2025
Fall is a moment to embrace depth, warmth, and storytelling through design. In hospitality, this translates into spaces that feel restorative yet expressive – places where guests can linger, connect, and feel at home.
Wimberly Interiors’ designers share what is shaping their approach to fall interior design trends 2025 and how these ideas are resonating with clients around the globe.
The Power of Palette
“For fall, deep tobacco browns have caught my attention. They are bold and dramatic without tipping into overly dark. I am still a believer in color drenching, painting the entire room, walls, ceiling, and trim in one hue to create an enveloping atmosphere. I am also leaning into moss and bottle greens, hues that feel soothing, and very much of the season and beyond.” — Margaret McMahon, Global Practice Principal, Wimberly Interiors
This season’s palettes balance richness with calm: earthy browns, mossy greens, and enveloping tones that ground a space while giving it depth.
Layered Storytelling
“The fall palette feels neutral yet rich, with deep earthy shades punctuated by jewel tones. While color is always important, the season also highlights design depth through layered textures and prints. I’m seeing vintage-inspired silhouettes and 90s patterns returning in textiles and furnishings. The key is awareness of proportion and detail, with the structure of a room as the foundation. Once that is strong, you can layer anything within it.” — Joon Kim, Creative Director, Wimberly Interiors, NYC
Proportion is the anchor. With a strong foundation, layering becomes an act of storytelling, where vintage references, bold textures, and maximalist ideas find balance.
Heritage and Modernity
“I always think about respecting the historic bones of the architecture while layering in vintage pieces with modern elements, all while grounding it in feng shui so the space feels balanced and supportive.” — Margaret McMahon
For hospitality interiors, the tension between honoring history and introducing contemporary comfort creates spaces that are authentic and current.

Nature, Inside and Out
“Plants stay year-round, but this fall, I am seeing more dried flowers, arranged in a minimalist and sculptural way rather than something overly frilly, to bring a modern edge to the organic. Lately, I have noticed a rise in weathered woods and aged millwork paneling balanced with contemporary lines. The warmth of the wood is inherently autumnal in feel, but it works all year depending on what you pair it with.” — Margaret McMahon
“This is a nice time of year to transform interior spaces with plants and trees that have been outside for the summer by bringing them in to keep that connection to the outside as we are spending more time inside.” — Vanessa Redman, Creative Director, Wimberly Interiors Dallas
Organic materials, from woods and millwork to dried florals and sculptural greenery, carry the season indoors, reinforcing the connection between nature and wellbeing.
A Hospitality Lens
“This fall’s design direction celebrates spaces that feel grounded, layered, and inviting, offering guests a place to slow down and linger in an ever-evolving technological world. Interiors enveloped in warm, earthy hues of terracotta, caramel, and dark mossy green paired with organic textures reminiscent of nature such as grasscloth, rattan, jute, and linen create an atmosphere of well-being and tranquility. Together they form a rich backdrop for thoughtfully curated elements that reflect the spirit of the place and its culture. Handcrafted, distinctive artisanal touches layered throughout add a sense of authenticity and encourage a deeper human connection with the space.” — Twynne Guess, Senior Designer, Wimberly Interiors Dallas
The most timeless trend is editing with intention. It keeps design evolving, ensures clarity, and makes room for new layers of meaning.
Fall interior design trends are about grounding and layering, about personal stories expressed through color, material, and proportion. In hospitality, these choices become the framework for experiences that nurture belonging, spark curiosity, and leave a lasting imprint on the guest.
