9.30.10 - Grand Hyatt Kauai Completes First Phase of Guestroom Renovation
Hospitality Design

Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa has completed the first phase of guestroom renovations, helmed by design firm WATG. The redesigned accommodations bring the richness of the island indoors with elements such as a white marble tiled entryway, marble bathroom countertops with double sink vanity, and luxurious rain style showers. The roots of Hawaii are ever present in the room's design elements with rich mahogany furniture (including a unique handcarved headboard featuring an imprint of the native hapu'u fern) and linens inspired by traditional kapa prints, while stylized artwork pays homage to ancient petroglyphs found in the sandstone adjacent to the resort.

12.18.09 - Hawaii's Grand Hyatt Kauai Plans Room Renovation
Travel Pulse

Embarking on a complete guestroom renovation beginning in April 2010, the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa has enlisted the expertise of specialists of all types -- designers, contractors, and most importantly their guests. The comprehensive room refurbishment will replace wall coverings, flooring, curtains, furniture, and décor. The project also includes a complete revamp of the bath and shower area, installing walk-in showers in some rooms and a new shower-bath combination in others. Both will feature marble counter tops, rain style showers, and marble tile flooring. Guestroom entry areas will now feature natural stone tile with carpet in the main living area. Kawailoa Development, LLP, owners of the Grand Hyatt, tapped the expertise of the resort's original designers, Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo, to concept the new look. The materials selected reflective of Kauai's culture and climate will further the resort's "Hawaiian classic" style.

Designated the Garden Isle, Kauai has long been the go-to destination for honeymooning couples and intrepid adventure-seekers. Its lush foliage and breathtaking white-sand beaches set the stage for the ultimate getaway. It's no surprise then that the island has served as the spectacular setting for numerous films and television productions, such as South Pacific, Gilligan's Island, Fantasy Island, The Thorn Birds, Jurassic Park, and more. Capitalizing on the celebrated scenery is the popular Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa (Koloa, HI), which is built into a hillside overlooking Keoneloa Bay. True paradise is found, however, with a visit to Anara Spa, a 14,000-square-foot facility that incorporates a host of Hawaiian healing traditions.
