CHALLENGE The design challenge was to create a destination resort that would be a symbol of Paradise Island, representing a "celebration of the sea," and creating an icon for the Bahamas and the entire Caribbean.

SOLUTION The design was based around the theme of the world's oceans and marine life, highlighting the Atlantian civilization and Mayan culture as parts of the detailing throughout.

SIZE 60 acres 1,208 guestrooms; 23 stories 50,000-square-foot casino 87,000 square feet of convention space 14-acre aquatic environment

AMENITIES 63-slip marina; three swimming pools; 40 waterfalls; Predator Pool lagoon; water slide through shark tank, caves and underwater grottos; world.s largest outdoor aquarium; 100-foot-long rope-suspension bridge; casino; retail venues; full-service spa; sports center; 38 restaurants and lounges
