William (Perry) Brown and Robert Payan have recently been promoted to senior vice president, and Rajesh Chandnani and William Nord have been promoted to vice president.
William (Perry) Brown, AIA joined WATG in 1992. Currently managing director of WATG's largest office -- in Irvine, California -- Brown has over 20 years of experience in architecture with an emphasis on multi-service line full service design and delivery projects. As project designer and manager, Brown's experience has included many high profile projects such as Atlantis Paradise Island Resort and Casino (Phase II) in the Bahamas; LEGOLAND Windsor; and the Palace of the Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Brown is currently managing the design of a high-end luxury resort and residences in the Maldives with over 700 guestrooms and 1000 residential units. Brown received his bachelor of architecture degree from the University of Idaho in Moscow.
A graduate in architecture from the University of Southern California, Robert Payan, AIA joined WATG's California office in 1988. Since then, he has served as lead designer on many of the firm's international and domestic luxury hotel, resort and residential projects. Payan's experience as a senior project designer has included numerous notable projects such as: Four Seasons Hotel Dublin in Ireland; Four Seasons Resort Aviara, Carlsbad, California; Marriott's Newport Coast Villas, Newport Beach, California; Rosewood Tangará Park Hotel and Spa in São Paulo, Brasil; and Four Seasons Punta Mita Resort in Puerto Vallarta. He also has directed several new and renovated casino and hotel projects for Ameristar in Nevada, Iowa, Missouri, Mississippi and Colorado. Other recent efforts include the Masquerade at Harrah's New Orleans, Louisiana, and the Avanterra at Palm Desert.
Rajesh (Raj) Chandnani is WATG's director of strategy. Prior to joining WATG in 2001, Chandnani was as associate director with Insignia/ESG Hotel Partners, a real estate investment practice exclusively dedicated to the hospitality industry. While there, he served as the asset manager of a portfolio of hotel investments on behalf of co-investment partners with responsibilities including budget review and analysis, monthly operational reviews and competitive analyses, preparation of business plans, overview of capital expenditures, ownership meetings, contract negotiations, acquisition analysis and deal structuring. Chandnani has specialized in commercial real estate and hotel advisory services since 1994. He has also taught classes on strategic planning, financial management, real estate finance, hotel development and tourism at UCLA, USC and Cornell University. Chandnani received his bachelor of science in real estate finance from the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University.
William Nord, AIA has more than 25 years of experience in project design, management
and team coordination. He has coordinated design and production efforts on a number of major hospitality and residential projects, some of which include: Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa in California; Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach in Los Cabos, Mexico; The Breakers Palm Beach in Florida; and the proposed Tropicana Las Vegas Casino and Resort. Prior to joining WATG in 1997, he managed architectural design efforts at Four Seasons Troon North, a luxury resort hotel, golf clubhouse and residential community in Scottsdale, Arizona; and the Biltmore Resort Hotel, a ski resort hotel and condominium. Nord’s most recent project management responsibilities at WATG include the Encore at Wynn Las Vegas, a new 2,050-room resort hotel casino, currently under construction. He received his bachelor of architecture degree from Arizona State University.
