WATG is proud to be working with Qatari Diar Egypt on Alam Al Roum, a landmark waterfront development on Egypt’s North Coast. Envisioned as a contemporary coastal destination, the project brings together architecture, nature and community to create a distinctive expression of Mediterranean living.

As part of the masterplan, WATG designed 22 residential typologies, including villas, twin villas and townhouses across four areas: Sealine Estates, Dockside Lagoons, Sandside Lagoons, and Sunray Lagoon Residences. Each area has its own architectural character and residential experience, while sharing a cohesive material palette and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.

The design approach is rooted in the relationship between the homes and the water. Large openings, generous terraces, shaded balconies and carefully framed views extend living spaces into the landscape, while courtyards, pergolas and planted areas provide privacy, shade and a sense of refuge. Natural limestone, textured stone, warm timber accents and mineral-toned plaster reflect the colours and textures of Egypt’s North Coast.

Sealine Estates – The Resort

Sealine Estates presents an ultra-luxury collection of residences defined by a sense of coastal majesty. Strong vertical framing elements rise across the façades, creating a striking architectural presence while framing deep, set-back balconies and uninterrupted views towards the water and horizon.

Pergola-style shading introduces texture and movement across the façades, casting delicate patterns of light and shadow onto textured plaster walls. Subtle horizontal lines balance the villas’ vertical character, creating a refined and elegant composition.

Inside, the residences are designed as private sanctuaries. Setbacks, sheltered entrances, intimate terraces and recessed balconies create a sequence of quieter spaces, offering residents privacy and a sense of retreat within an exceptional waterfront setting.

Dockside Lagoons – The Retreat

Dockside Lagoons offer a serene interpretation of contemporary Mediterranean architecture, with the homes positioned around the water to encourage a relaxed, outdoor-focused lifestyle.

Strong horizontal forms frame large openings and reinforce the connection between the residences and the lagoon. Natural stone, textured plaster and rich timber accents create a tactile, understated material palette that responds to the coastal setting.

The villas are conceived as peaceful retreats, where light, openness and nature are central to the experience. Generous outdoor spaces and uninterrupted lagoon views create an atmosphere of calm, providing residents with a relaxing coastal escape.

Sandside Lagoons and Sunray Lagoon Residences – The Village

Sandside Lagoons and Sunray Lagoon Residences take a more relaxed, village-inspired approach to Mediterranean residential architecture. The villas combine clean, stepped volumes with softened arched openings and lightweight pergolas, creating depth, rhythm and a playful interplay of light and shadow across the façades.

A warm, layered plaster palette gives the buildings a natural and understated character, while subtle tonal variations articulate the different volumes and reinforce the sense of craftsmanship. Recessed glazing, shaded balconies, generous terraces and covered garden spaces strengthen the connection between indoor and outdoor living.

Arched openings introduce a distinctive identity across the community, balancing the modern geometry with a softer expression. Landscaped lawns, planted buffers and carefully framed entrances provide shade, privacy and a welcoming sense of arrival.
