2025 LIV Hospitality Design Awards

The results from the 2025 LIV Hospitality Design Awards are in. WATG + Wimberly Interiors have been honored with twelve awards across eight projects that span the globe, from the serene canals of Wuxi to the vibrant energy of Nashville.

As designers, we act as orchestrators, weaving together the unique experiences of a place with engineered environment to craft a story.

Architecture

The architectural wins this year reflect a deep sensitivity to site and culture. At Hotel Wuxi – MGallery Collection, the design draws from the historic Jiangnan-style water town. It earned top marks in both the Hotel – Luxury and Asia categories.

“As designers, we act as orchestrators – weaving together the unique experiences of a place with the engineered environment to craft a story around space and time. With Hotel Wuxi, our humble effort achieves this on multiple levels. Stories open one’s mind to diversity, sparking dreams and a sense of excitement, but engaging in a story through participation adds layers and dimensions that create deeper connections for lasting memories. Here, we’ve taken great care to honor cultural heritage and tradition, invite the larger community into this narrative through the public access spaces, and create an immersive experience for guests that extends beyond the bounds of traditional hospitality.” – Raghavendra Shanbhag, Associate Principal

In Indonesia, Regent Bali Canggu was recognized in the Beach Destination and Indian Ocean categories. The architectural forms and details suggest bold, yet restrained, interpretations of the island’s local building materials, colors, and artisanship.

The modernist luxury of Nobu Hotel Los Cabos took home honors in the Resort – Luxury category. The design objective here was to merge the relaxed, coastal lifestyle of Cabo San Lucas with the Nobu brand’s signature approach.

Interior Design

Wimberly Interiors continues to elevate guest experience through meticulous storytelling and material selection.

Complementing its architectural success, the interiors at Hotel Wuxi – MGallery Collection won in the Hotel – Luxury category, and was awarded Jury’s Top Pick in the Hotel – Asia category. The design translates the “poetic lifestyle” of ancient Wuxi into a contemporary sanctuary, utilizing a palette that mirrors the city’s traditional stone and water.

The $140M renovation of Omni Homestead Resort & Spa, a 1766 National Historic Landmark, won in the Historic & Heritage category. WATG and Wimberly Interiors’ designers focused on rejuvenating the Homestead with a fresh identity grounded in its rich legacy. The design details tell the story and feel personal to all who have visited for generations, and all who visit for generations to come.

Tempo by Hilton, Nashville Downtown earned the Brand New category win, Wimberly Interiors used an Art Deco lens to celebrate Nashville’s music heritage through the imagined persona of 1970s icon “Mary Louise.”

Regent Santa Monica Beach won in the Beach Destination category. The design creates a dialogue between luxury and comfort, where guests feel transported and completely at ease. Layering rich textures, sophisticated colors, and custom furnishings to craft unique spaces that celebrate the natural beauty of Santa Monica and the polished aesthetic of the Regent brand.

Hotel del Coronado: Our work on the Victorian building’s public spaces and guestrooms earned a win in the Renovation category.

“Our vision was to create a delicate balance of design that purges the traditional idea of mixing ‘old and new,’ and instead restores original items to their natural state of beauty while introducing new layered elements that enhance the heritage in a modern way.” – Liana Hawes Young, Creative Director, Wimberly Interiors

Honorable Mention

Rounding out the  accolades, the Grand Hyatt Scottsdale Resort & Spa received an Honorable Mention in the Midscale and Lifestyle category. Wimberly Interiors reimagined the former Hyatt Regency Gainey Ranch as Scottsdale’s first Grand Hyatt, merging global brand identity with the region’s natural beauty and hospitality legacy.

“Our goal was to create a resort that reflects the desert environment and delivers the elevated design standards of the Grand Hyatt brand. We drew inspiration from the surrounding landscape, regional materials, and the history of Arizona’s ranches so that every element, from the spatial layout to the custom furnishings, connects to the site, creating a transformation that feels both natural and ambitious.” – Erin Nichols Walker, Associate Principal
