In 2016, following Indiana’s approval for land-based casinos, Tropicana Entertainment embarked on an ambitious project to transform their riverboat casino into a state-of-the-art entertainment destination. The resulting Tropicana Evansville development became Indiana’s first land-based casino, representing a milestone in the region’s hospitality and entertainment landscape. Designed with a focus on guest experience, the complex blends luxury and innovation, elevating the city’s appeal as a tourist destination.
Design and Vision
The architectural vision for this transformative project was to blend functionality with dynamic design. The 75,000 sq. ft. complex houses a 45,000 sq. ft. gaming floor, two distinctive dining venues, and an ultramodern entertainment lounge. The single-level layout ensures easy navigation and provides ample space for guests to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere.
The design reflects Tropicana’s iconic Havana-inspired branding, utilizing rich colors, textures, and a contemporary aesthetic. From the tropical hues to the sleek interiors, every detail has been crafted to align with Tropicana’s brand identity, creating a cohesive and memorable experience. The use of wall-mounted LED panels throughout the space enhances the energy and visual appeal, offering an engaging environment for entertainment.
Guest Experience and Impact
Opened in October 2017, the new Tropicana Evansville Casino offers a vastly enhanced guest experience compared to its riverboat predecessor. The integrated entertainment complex introduces upgraded gaming facilities, from high-limit areas to casual play spaces, attracting both seasoned and new patrons alike. With the addition of two upscale restaurants and a cutting-edge entertainment lounge, visitors are provided with diverse options for dining, relaxation, and nightlife.
The new complex has redefined the entertainment landscape of Evansville, positioning it as a must-visit destination for both local and out-of-town guests. By marrying Tropicana’s vibrant brand with modern design principles, the casino serves as a dynamic attraction, fueling economic growth and reinforcing the city’s position as a competitive player in the Midwest’s gaming and entertainment industry.
