Originally established in 1927 on the site of King Kamehameha I’s summer palace and constructed in a distinctive Spanish-Moorish style with a pink concrete stucco façade, the hotel underwent careful renovation by WATG — the firm’s first-ever hospitality project. The renovation preserved the hotel’s historic architecture while updating the property for continued operation as a premier luxury destination.

After nearly 95 years of welcoming guests from around the world, the hotel underwent careful renovation WATG’s first-ever hospitality project. The goal was to preserve the hotel’s rich history, enhance its elegance, and ensure it remains a premier destination for romance and luxury in the heart of Hawaii. 

The hotel’s distinctive Spanish-Moorish architecture, adorned with a vibrant pink concrete stucco façade, has made it an internationally recognized symbol of luxury and hospitality.
