Ian Simpson is an award-winning architect and seasoned leader.

With a vast portfolio spanning sectors including retail, residential and mixed-use, and regions as diverse as Asia Pacific and the Americas, Ian has a keen interest in the relationship between architecture and master planning, ensuring that buildings best respond to environmental, cultural, and societal needs.

Prior to joining WATG in late 2022, Ian spent more than 25 years in an international practice. During this time, he oversaw the opening of the firm’s Singapore, Mumbai and Middle East operations, served as a Board Member, and was lead architect on numerous notable projects including the likes of Google’s headquarters in Mumbai, Promenade 57 Jakarta, Singapore’s National Heart Centre, the Al Bandar residential scheme in Abu Dhabi and the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Terminal in Miami.

Based in our Singapore office, Ian builds upon WATG’s long history as the world’s preeminent hospitality design firm, applying its signature people- and planet-first hospitality ethos to projects of all shapes, sizes and uses across the world.
