Red & Gold Lounge

The crown of the World Tree — a space to taste and celebrate Hotel Indigo Hengqin's narrative of fruition and success.

Red & Gold Lounge

Hengqin is an emerging city at the forefront of transformation within the Greater Bay Area — once peripheral, it is now defining itself as a destination shaped by new economic energy, world-class attractions, and an ambition to become a highly integrated, sustainable urban environment. To convey this sense of optimism and growth, Hotel Indigo Hengqin is envisioned through the concept of a “Tomorrow Land,” where the World Tree serves as a unifying symbol of resilience, connectivity, and sustained development.

Elevated above the city, the Red & Gold lounge is conceived as the crown of the World Tree where the experience culminates. Offering a moment to reflect, celebrate, and take in the broader landscape, it is a space to taste and celebrate the hotel’s narrative of fruition and success, translating themes of harvest and reward into a bold, immersive environment.

A high-impact material and color palette defines the space: deep red flooring and walls are paired with a gold metallic ceiling and feature wall, creating a strong visual identity that is both vibrant and refined.

The design draws from the imagery of treetop fruits, expressed through branching curves and abstracted fruit textures that are woven into the interior elements. Tactile expression depicting the richness and ripeness of fruit reinforces the narrative. Perforated ceiling panels and a diamond-textured gold backdrop create light and shadow effects that play across surfaces, subtly evoking an atmosphere of indulgence and celebration while enhancing depth and movement.

The bar accommodates 65 guests, organized across a series of distinct yet cohesive zones. At its center, a gold, curved bar counter anchors the experience. Adjacent to a double-height volume, the lounge area extends the narrative through a gold perforated ceiling, wall panels, and sculptural sofas, creating a dynamic yet cohesive environment.

To one side, a private seating area near a slanted window introduces a more relaxed character, offering a softer spatial experience. Casual seating arrangements and lighting integrated within the furniture evoke a picnic-like setting, enhancing the sense of informality and escape.

Architecturally, large expanses of perforated metal panels extend from the low ceiling to the side walls, enhancing perceived spatial height while framing outward views. In favorable conditions, the setting allows for stargazing, reinforcing its position at the top of the World Tree.

Prioritizing expressiveness, the design language is infused with optimism — an apt reflection of Hengqin as a city in constant transformation. Guided by this energy, guests gather at the crown of the Hotel Indigo Hengqin ‘World Tree’, where moments unfold through ritual, indulgence, and a heightened sense of place, all against the backdrop of the city.

Dining is Theatre

At Wimberly F&B, we believe that great restaurants aren’t just designed they are choreographed. Every detail moves in rhythm; the pace of service, the flow of light, the sound of laughter, the quiet precision of a kitchen in motion.
