Best-in-class amenities, specialized care, and thoughtfully designed environments that promote wellbeing.
Rooted in Huntington Beach’s character as a historic beach town rich in culture and vibrant social activity, the design draws from the area’s familiar yet elegant coastal lifestyle. Leveraging Southern California’s ideal climate, the project prioritizes indoor-outdoor living, with nearly one-third of the site dedicated to open space.
The community is planned to accommodate a full continuum of care, including independent living, assisted living, and memory care, allowing residents to remain within a familiar environment as their needs evolve. A resident begins their day in a light-filled apartment designed for comfort, safety, and connection to the beautiful climate of Huntington Beach.
The project prioritizes indoor-outdoor living, with nearly one-third of the site dedicated to open space.
Numerous ground-level amenity and activity areas surround an open-air interior courtyard and pool, offering a secure setting for socialization, movement, and rejuvenation. The design creates a range of indoor-outdoor environments, from courtyards and paseos to roof decks, providing year-round opportunity for private and shared experiences. Residents can take advantage of a variety of dining venues, a welcoming bar, a fitness studio lounge, an art room, salon & spa, clubroom, movie theater, and events within the community.
Drawing from the familiarity and comfort of a beach cottage aesthetic, fused with clean and sophisticated contemporary architectural language, the design creates a place that feels elevated in character while remaining intimate and relaxing. Although conceived as a single structure to meet program requirements, the architecture emphasizes articulated massing, varying rooflines and recesses and differentiation in finishes, balconies, and terraces, to create a more human scale experience by giving the impression of multiple smaller buildings. This approach also responds sensitively to adjacent residential uses with respect to height, density, and parking.
Sustainability is strategically integrated into daily life, working quietly in the background to enhance comfort, health, and dignity at every stage of the resident’s journey. Energy efficiency, responsible resource use, and healthy living are prioritized through a multitude of thoughtful design decisions, including high-performance glazing, low-VOC materials, maximized daylighting, native and drought-tolerant plant species, and permeable surfaces in the exterior areas. EV-charging parking spaces and short- and long-term bicycle parking encourage alternative transportation.
