2026-27 Asia Pacific Property & Hotel Awards
Wimberly Interiors has been honored at the 2026-27 Asia Pacific Property & Hotel Awards, taking the lead in the Hotel Suite Category for Dangkou Ancient Town Hotel Wuxi – MGallery Collection.
Located in the historic heart of Dangkou Ancient Town, the project involved translating the “soul” of a Jiangnan style water town into a luxury experience. The design honors the legacy of Grandmaster Hua Cha, a Ming Dynasty scholar whose influence on science, art, and music remains the town’s cultural pulse.
the suites
The design focuses on emotional clarity and tactile storytelling. Architectural screens and strategic window placements mimic traditional courtyard houses, creating a constant dialogue between the interior and the surrounding canals. Natural timber and stone were selected for their sensory consistency and ability to age beautifully, ensuring the suites feel grounded.
the hotel
The broader hotel represents a sophisticated, site-specific identity that resonates with a new generation of travelers. The resort’s lobby and lounge, is designed as a house of wisdom to pay tribute to Hua’s private library, while curated scents and subtle acoustic layers evoke the stillness of the Eastern Han Dynasty. This deep connection to the past ensures that every guest becomes part of a living story.
The project’s success lies in its restraint. By utilizing Jiangnan Garden principles, such as axial courtyards and the rhythmic reveal of space like a handscroll, Wimberly Interiors curated a sequence of moments. The design delivers a sense of grandeur that is deeply respectful of Wuxi’s heritage while remaining thoughtfully tailored to the discerning, modern explorer.
