Ala Hason is Regional Director of WATG’s Middle East and North Africa studio. With over 20 years of hospitality and master planning experience across the Gulf, North Africa, and international markets, he brings a strategic perspective grounded in deep knowledge of regional contexts and client objectives.
Ala specializes in master planning and urban design, hospitality, healthcare architecture, office and corporate headquarters, mixed-use development, and large-scale institutional projects. His design philosophy centers on sustainable development that respects local heritage and cultural values, creating architecture that serves both immediate client goals and lasting community benefit. He believes that successful projects are rooted in their context, and he brings this conviction to every commission through rigorous engagement with local business needs, site conditions, and cultural narratives.
Before joining WATG, Ala led principal roles on the Gulf of Aqaba ultra-luxury tourism master plan in Saudi Arabia, Skyiera mixed-use destination in Cairo, and Damani Wellness and Nature Sanctuary in Dubai. His work also includes significant healthcare commissions, including Kuwait Children’s Hospital, King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, hospital expansions across Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia in New York.

Ala holds a master’s in architecture from North Carolina State University at Raleigh and a bachelor’s in architecture from Ain Shams University in Cairo. He is a member of the UAE Society of Engineers.
