Described as a ‘jewel in the mountains’, Viceroy Kopaonik Serbia is the only luxury ski resort in the region – and the first very first Viceroy Icon Collection property to open in Europe.

Offering year-round ski-in/ski-out and services such as ski valets, a full-service spa, indoor and outdoor pools, and an assortment of culinary experiences, the WATG and Wimberly Interiors-designed property adds a glamorous West Coast energy to Serbia’s largest mountain range.

With textural stone, ice-like glass, local oak and hammered metals, the property’s overall design concept incorporates raw materials to evoke a sense of alpine living and opulence.

Upon arrival, guests are greeted with stunning views of the mountainside, while a timber-clad library adjacent to the lobby invites guests to sit by the fire and stay awhile. The art collection skews eclectic, with local Serbian artists commissioned for contemporary pieces in public areas.

On the ground floor, three restaurants are strategically positioned to look towards the mountains and ski slopes in the winter months. Floor-to-ceiling glass walls frame the views, taking full advantage of the scenery and creating an atmosphere akin to an opulent mountain family home.

Each guestroom and suite delicately balances industrial and classic design. Inspired by a timber box, the rooms layer wood textures and crafted cerused oak millwork to create a cozy yet elevated setting. Horsehair-wrapped headboards, locally patterned textiles, woolen drapes, and sofas edged in traditional Serbian lacework provide soft touches. Vintage ski photography from Kopaonik adorns guestroom walls. In the Presidential Suite, gold, orange, and red – all common colors in Serbian patterns and textiles – are the dominant colors, while other accommodations have green tones in a nod to the landscape and surrounding forest.

The resort’s spa, the only full-service luxury spa in Kopaonik, embraces the thermal aspects of wellness. The deep and dark almost cavernous space is a warm cocoon, with textural materials focusing on the play of light, resulting in a peaceful engagement of the senses.
