Destination Design firm WATG has undergone a re-branding effort. A new logo and website are just a few of the new initiatives. Other re-branding efforts include a company blog, new brochures and collateral, the opening of offices in Singapore and Oman, and the announcement of WimberlyLabs, a group within WATG that applies and tests technology in service of great design.

WATG is pleased to announce the opening of MGM Grand in Sanya, an emerging resort destination on South China Sea's Hainan Island, in China. International destination design firm WATG was the design architect for the five-star resort.

Our new neighborhood in Singapore is historically named after the Commonwealth of Nations and is a significant representation on Singapore's history as a British colony. Located just a short walk from the bustling area of Holland Village, the Commonwealth area is on track to becoming a beacon of design with some of the most talented firms making their way out to this industrial area in search of more space for their creative minds. It's only a matter of time before this up and coming area takes the design world to new heights and fosters a community of the most sought after design firms in Asia.

Vice President

Bill Reed, vice president, has over 25 years of architectural design and hospitality experience. Since joining WATG in 1984, Bill has directed numerous high-profile projects, including Ayana Resort and Spa in Bali; Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village, California; Al Badia Golf Clubhouse by InterContinental at Dubai Festival City; Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa in Oman; Hilton Mauritius Resort & Spa; and, The Ritz-Carlton in Palm Beach, Florida. More recently, he has been working on The Renaissance Boao in China; Kemang Residences in West Java, Indonesia; and Project: Journey, a beachfront hotel in Palawan, Philippines.

Executive Vice President, Worldwide Development, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts

As Executive Vice President Worldwide Development for Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Scott Woroch is responsible for the company's global expansion. With over 40 new properties currently in the pipeline, his mission to identify quality destinations, sites and third-party partners is only set to intensify. Woroch joined Four Seasons in 2000 as Vice President Business Development, Asia Pacific, after a 10-year career in hotel development, representing both hotel companies and real estate owners. Prior to entering the hospitality industry, he had a successful career practicing real estate law in Washington D.C. When not traveling, he enjoys participating in competitive sports - especially soccer and tennis - and is also a keen skier and runner.

Thought Leader David Moore, AIA
Senior Vice President, Managing Director, Singapore

Joining WATG in 1989, David Moore rose through the ranks to become managing director of the Honolulu office after a stint in Singapore and Beijing. In 2007, he returned to Singapore to head up WATG's office there and has helped grow the firm's portfolio throughout the region. Dave has worked on projects in China, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Fiji, India, Thailand, Japan, Australia, Guam, Myanmar, Mauritius, and the Maldives. His experience of living both in Asia and the US has bestowed on Dave the ability to bridge the cultures of East and West with great sensitivity.

Thought Leader Enrique Ary Pepino
Architect

Enrique Ary Pepino is a talented designer with over eight years of design experience. He joined WATG in 2005 and has since worked on several major urban and resort hotels and mixed-use projects around the world. He has a strong sense of cultural sensitivity and creativity in conceptual design resulting in the creation of unique and versatile projects. Originally from Argentina, his extensive work throughout South America, Africa, Europe and the Middle East has equipped him with an acute knowledge and appreciation of the importance of creating a sense of place and how this ultimately impacts the guest experience.

Visionary Client Miguel Brandao
Head of Development, Lusofinança

Miguel Brandao is head of development for Lusofinança, the parent company of Logoplaste, an industrial group that manufactures rigid plastic packaging for some of the most reputable companies in the world. The company, with an impressive social responsibility and sustainability program, is working with WATG on developing a sustainable resort in the heart of the Alentejo region in Portugal, south of Lisbon.

Just Announced

Woodbine Development Corporation today announced details of a $35-million expansion and renovation of its Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio. The project will essentially double the resort's indoor function space, triple its pre-function space, add new outdoor function space, enhance and freshen guestrooms and landscaping, as well as expand the ever-popular water park to include a FlowRider® wave machine and a tower slide. Woodbine is managing the project, with WATG and Wimberly Interiors providing interior design services; HKS Hill Glazier Studio as architect of record; Rialto Studio, Inc., managing landscape improvements; and Hardin Construction Company, L.L.C., as general contractor. The entire project will be completed by fall 2013, with portions of the project completed in the spring of 2013. The resort opened as Texas' first true destination resort in February 1993 and will celebrate 20 years of successful operation in 2013.
