The Breakers Palm Beach |
Palm Beach, Florida |

CHALLENGE The challenge was to revitalize the famous Breakers Hotel. This included the design of 20 high-end beach front bungalow cabanas to add a new luxury offering to guests; and to create a golf clubhouse that would be reminiscent of Old Florida, with a casual feel and a level of dignity and elegance. Additionally, common spaces including the main entry drive, porte cochere, and new entry gate house were renovated long with the 20,000-square-foot luxury spa.
SOLUTION From early on in the process, WATG worked closely with the management to set design goals. The design inspiration came from the existing residential cottages near the hotel, and gave the clubhouse a relaxed, residential feel. Verandas were included on upper and lower levels to create the feel of a large, stately mansion. The floor plan was angled to provide spectacular views of the course and 18th fairway.
