Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa |
Muscat, Oman |

CHALLENGE The challenge was to design the country's first truly integrated destination resort (the largest and most comprehensive in Oman) that would cater to both business and leisure guests. The location of the site holds both historical and environmental significance; buried archaeological treasures have been uncovered and the beach is listed as one of the rare breeding coves for turtles.
SOLUTION Every consideration was taken to preserve and enhance the unique local environment and natural habitat of the site. Three separate and distinct luxury hotels are nestled against the rugged interior mountains and spectacular waters of the Gulf. The three hotels offer a full range of facilities and activities including meeting, recreation, retail, dining, and entertainment, making it a fully integrated destination resort. A museum holds a collection of rare archaeological items dating back to 1000 - 2000BC.
SIZE 124 acres (50 hectares) 680 guestrooms in three hotels Al Waha: 302 keys (5-star) Al Bandar: 198 keys (5-star) Al Husn: 180 keys (6-star)
