The celebratory designed golf course, Mediterranean Sea views, villas and marina apartments that this resort promises sound enticing but, what of the indigenous landscape and natural resources. WATG have a reputation for taking this latter cause into great consideration thankfully, hotel and resort designs for over 160 countries and across six continents say it all.

WATG has been selected to design The Ritz-Carlton, Tamuda Bay on the Mediterranean Sea in Morocco. Sporting a contemporary design that blends sustainability and indigenous influences, the resort, opening in 2012, will have 100 rooms, 140 golf and hillside villas with a residents club, 80 marina apartments, a beach club, and an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus golf course with a clubhouse and practice facilities. In addition, an eco-park is being developed to provide wildlife a sanctuary and guests a serene place to experience nature.

And now, it looks like I can have it my way courtesy of The Ritz-Carlton, Tamuda Bay resort on the Mediterranean Ocean. This work in progress resort will include 80 marina apartments, a golf course, a beach club and of course a world class spa to pamper, relax and soothe away any stress you might have brought with you. The architectural firm WATG known for their contemporary style  won the bid to build the exterior as well as furnish the interior.

Destination design firm WATG has been selected as the architect and interior designer for The Ritz-Carlton, Tamuda Bay on the Mediterranean Sea in Morocco.

CHALLENGE The challenge was to create an imaginative design for the low-lying wetland site to accommodate the hotel, villas, apartments and an 18-hole golf course.

SOLUTION The solution was to utilize the low-lying wetlands by creating exclusive golf villa islands and a dense waterfront village. The hotel and remaining luxury villas were designed to be situated on the elevated land overlooking the golf course.

SIZE 129 hectares; 100 guestrooms; 10 villas; 70 waterfront apartments; 120 villas

AMENITIES Jack Nicklaus designed 18-hole golf course; golf clubhouse; freshwater lake; golf villa islands; waterfront village with retail outlets and food and beverage outlets; two restaurants; pool bar grille; beach club; conference facilities; spa; health club; kids club; young adult club; tennis courts
