6.29.11 - WATG's hotel renovations garner accolades The JW Marriott Ihilani guestroom renovation was the Grand Award winner in "Commercial Remodeling – Projects from 7,501-15,000 square feet" category. In celebration of the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa’s 20th anniversary, WATG gave the property a new and revitalized look that was created by bringing the richness of Kauai indoors. The interior renovation received the Merit Award for "Commercial Remodeling – Projects over 15,001 square feet." The Orchid Suite at Halekulani won the Merit Award for "Commercial Remodeling – Projects under 5,000 square feet." |

Design firm WATG did the room renovation, which recently won a coveted award for high-quality commercial remodeling. |

11.03.10 - New Guest Experience Planned for 2011 at JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa "After a year and a half of planning with our owners and the renowned firm of WATG (Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo), we feel this is the right time to upgrade our rooms," said General Manager Dan Banchiu. "This renovation will elevate our room product, offering guests contemporary and fresh accommodations while still maintaining the distinguished sense of place, gracious hospitality and distinctive amenities that we are known for." |
CHALLENGE The challenge was to provide a new guestroom scheme for the property that was contemporary and fresh while still maintaining a sense of place and evoking luxury.
SOLUTION A clean palette of sea blue and sand was paired with custom designed furnishings and fabrics that relayed traditional Hawaiian kapa patterns. Hawaiian feather leis were used as artwork.
