CHALLENGE The challenge was to create a showplace that embraces Western design and spotlights Japanese cultural traditions.
SOLUTION Mediterranean-inspired architecture was used, integrating uniquely Japanese conventions, such as the men's furo (soaking bath), which combines an opulent rendition of Japanese bathing customs and Western innovation.
