3.15.11 - Hotel Missoni, Belek, Antalya, Turkey Architects and master planners for the project are WATG. John Goldwyn of WATG describes the site, where the Taurus Mountains meet the southern coastal plains, as having "an interesting topography that benefits from a cool breeze in the summer as well as panoramic views towards the Mediterranean coast." |
CHALLENGE The challenge for the project was to create a new integrated resort in Turkey's premier golf destination while preserving the unique characteristics of the region.
SOLUTION The design solution utilises existing olive trees on agricultural terraces and retains the rural character of the land as the base for the region's first 'countryside resort.' The building design is based around little villages and exclusive residential pockets. Local materials are used on contemporary buildings to respond to the context with integrity. The five-star boutique hotel is designed to be the centre of activity of the development forming a village hub, it will also provide fantastic views out to the 18-hole golf course.
