New Century Grand Ningbo Hotel

CHALLENGE The challenge was to begin the interior design process while the hotel was well under construction. As the site was not in a significant area of Ningbo, an exciting and attractive design was required to entice visitors.

SOLUTION To intrigue guests, a romantic storyline was created based on the characteristics of the significant flowers of the city. The hotel interiors were emphasized to create an oasis away from the city-a place for guests to relax in a tranquil environment. An interesting and delightful sequence of spaces was developed, with the different areas being tied together by the flower theme, each with a different characteristic, providing something unique for guests to view as they move through the hotel. A flower-domed entry lobby leads to a two-story lobby lounge flanked by water features and exterior garden beyond.
