CHALLENGE The challenge was to create a luxury tropical resort that will complement and showcase the beauty of the natural surroundings and with a style reflecting Chinese culture.

SOLUTION Open public spaces with flourishing landscape and lagoons craft a tropical resort atmosphere. Buildings were set with a 5-story height limit above the established grade and arranged in village-like clusters that allows 75% of the guestrooms to have ocean views, and the remaining 25% with garden and mountain views. Pitched tropical roofs and the rhythmic stepping of the guestroom buildings echo the forms of the surrounding hills and complement the organic tropical style laced with contemporary Chinese overtones.
