Marassi Mediterranean Marine and Golf Resort |
North Coast, Egypt |

CHALLENGE Create a world-class destination resort development along one of the most pristine beaches on the North Coast of Egypt. The biggest challenge was to incorporate a diverse program of uses within the site which is comprised of sensitive coastal dunes and beaches, and vast areas of subkha (areas inundated with salt brine and seawater).
SOLUTION The master plan layout was driven by the unique characteristics of the site, incorporating golf and a man-made canal into the vast subkha area of the site. Guidelines have been established which stress the importance of utilizing native xeriscape to create a more natural, environmentally sensitive design solution. Architectural districts have been created to integrate with a variety of distinct site conditions.
