CHALLENGE The design goal for a great resort is to highlight the natural environment of its location while integrating man-made elements in a way that respects and honors the beauty of the setting. The resort, at a sizable 500 guestrooms, makes this goal particularly challenging.
SOLUTION Together with the developer China Jin Mao Group Co., Ltd., WATG embraced the challenge by reducing the project’s scale in both mass and detail, and by introducing a design that reflects the natural environment and incorporates subtle references to the architecture of Southern China. Equally important to the success of any great resort is the interior design and landscape architecture that, in this case, were skillfully provided by Chhada Siembieda Leung Ltd. and Belt Collins International respectively.
