CHALLENGE The design challenge was to capture the tropical ambiance of the Hawaiian islands, while serving the business needs of international professionals in a convention center setting.

SOLUTION The design of the Hawaii Convention Center reflects the open-air quality of life in the islands and communicates the enduring themes of Hawaii's culture, history and environment.

SIZE 9.7 acres; 1,106,671-square foot; 200,000-square-foot exhibit space; 207,426 square feet of meeting space (in 51 meeting rooms); 802 parking spaces

AMENITIES 36,000-square-foot ballroom; 12 executive conference rooms; two presentation theaters; press room; teleconferencing center
