Hainan Baolian Resort Master Plan

CHALLENGE WATG was asked to study and evaluate the existing master plan for this resort property and offer feedback as to how it could be improved. The seven-phase master plan will include high-rise apartments and lakefront apartments, retail, a beach club, a four-star hotel, and a second hotel with convention center.

SOLUTION WATG redesigned the confusing circulation pattern into an easy to follow loop surrounding the resort amenities. Additionally, the retail areas were relocated into one entertainment street creating a critical mass and a heart to the resort development. The last major design change was relocating the parking lots so the resort guests wouldn't have to drive through the residential zones.
