Grand Hyatt Bali |
Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia |

CHALLENGE The challenge was to design a luxury resort and retail complex without overwhelming the exotic terrain and culture of its location. No building could be taller than a coconut tree.
SOLUTION The resort village is organized into four decentralized clusters with their own courtyard, each individually themed to create an intimate scale for guests. Within the complex, larger structures such as retail stores were designed to resemble Balinese ruins, while smaller shops are modeled after Balinese row houses.
SIZE 40 acres (hotel) 27 acres (retail/cultural complex) 750 guestrooms, including 35 suites and four deluxe villas 248,000-square-foot retail/cultural complex
AMENITIES Indonesian food court; fitness center; tennis courts; squash courts; beach club; three swimming pools; business center; conference facilities
