CHALLENGE The design challenge was to create an exclusive Mission style resort of the highest quality - one that would deliver hotel, convention, and golf facilities, as well as timeshare units. The desire was to emphasize the rocky site, the environment and cultural history.

SOLUTION The entrance lobby was designed to rise 150 feet above the site to provide visitors with a breathtaking view over the hotel's hillside village and out to the Pacific Ocean. Guestrooms are spread throughout several one- to four-story buildings that are arranged to blend in with the rugged topography and evoke the ambiance of a Mexican hilltown. Echoing the design and layout of the hotel is a series of vacation ownership units that complete the hilltown and enjoy the shared amenities of the development.
