CHALLENGE The design challenge for Phase III, a $1 billion expansion to Atlantis, was to epitomize the upmarket resort lifestyle in the Bahamas, and create a vacation destination like no other in the world. The intent was to design a themed resort hotel, condo hotel, spa and waterpark that would strike a balance between the Atlantian forms of Phase II and a more modern and refined architecture.

SOLUTION The project was designed to take full advantage of its prime location with spectacular ocean views and a true tropical experience. Strong simple architectural forms were blended utilizing a refined and luxurious palette of colors and finish materials. Stonework, smooth plaster, glass and exotic woods were integrated with sophisticated design detailing resulting in an ambiance of relaxation and elegance. The hotel and residences include tower top "spire" elements in keeping with the Atlantis symbol to ensure continuity of the Atlantis theme throughout the resort.
