CHALLENGE Design an architecturally significant clubhouse that would be a visual and social focal point, compatible with its site and natural surroundings, and versatile enough to function as a winter-sports clubhouse during snow season.

SOLUTION The Clubhouse was designed so that it appears to rise out of a prominent, boulder and brush-covered plateau with 360 degree exposure to the community. The design is organized by the dramatic placement of two massive cross-axial walls constructed of natural stone. The open plan allows the freedom to look through adjoining areas.

SIZE 500 acres 25,000-square-foot clubhouse 5,200-square-foot sales office

AMENITIES 18-hole championship golf course designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish; pro shop; locker room; exercise room; swimming pool; public dining areas; members' grill; retreat for winter skiers
