CLIENT E&O Property Development

CHALLENGE The challenge was to renovate a 19th-century seafront hotel while maintaining its strong historical links and traditions coupled with present day facilities and luxury service.

SOLUTION A three-story building, painted a gleaming white, was positioned as an all-suite hotel, evoking an aura of place and time. The elements of style and class remain with moulded arches and pillars, Islamic influenced domes and minarets, long seafront lawn, and spacious domed lobby reminiscent of the colonial days of Malaya. An impressive courtyard entrance is draped by Victorian wrought-iron pillars and filigree work. The swimming pool was enlarged and serves as the focal point with its palm-fringed sea views.

SIZE 101 guestrooms (all suites)

AMENITIES All-suites and grand suites; restaurants, cafes and bars; grand ballroom; business centre; swimming pool; fitness facility with gym and sauna; retail promenade; courtyards; 280-metre (920-foot) seafront lawn and gardens; 24-hour butler service
